Benjamin Rosel was born and raised in Sonoma County and is the proud son of immigrant parents. As the first in his family to graduate from both high school and college, he earned an Associate degree in Social Behavior Sciences and Psychology, shaped by a belief that every child and family deserves the opportunity to thrive regardless of circumstance or background.
Benjamin brings both professional and lived experience to his work, understanding that many of the challenges families face are deeply connected to broader social and economic barriers. He believes meaningful change begins with compassion, dignity, and communities investing in one another. He is passionate about helping create systems that are more accessible, responsive, and centered on the real needs of working families.
Prior to joining First 5 Sonoma County, Benjamin spent four years in the nonprofit sector supporting families through the challenges of the pandemic and working closely with foster and justice-impacted youth. These experiences strengthened his commitment to equity, community care, and ensuring that children and families, particularly those navigating systemic barriers, have access to the resources, stability, and opportunities they need to succeed. Benjamin believes strong communities are built when people feel seen, supported, and empowered. He remains committed to uplifting community voices, expanding opportunity, and advocating for a future where every family has the support needed not just to get by, but to truly thrive.
