First 5 Sonoma County Seeks Commissioner to fill upcoming vacancy

The First 5 Sonoma County Commission is seeking interested candidates who represent the racial, cultural and socio-economic diversity of our community. Candidates for the current vacancy must represent one or more of the following categories:

  • Employee of or member of the governance body (e.g. board, council) for a local Child Care Resource and Referral agency or a local child care coordinating and/or planning group
  • Post-secondary educator in the early childhood development field
  • Employee or elected official of a city or town in Sonoma County that has established policy and/or dedicated resources to promoting optimal child development

The First 5 Sonoma County Commission directs the investment of more than $5 million annually to systems supporting children from birth through age five and their parents and caregivers in Sonoma County.  

Commissioners are appointed by the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors and serve a term of two years. Commissioners may be reappointed for a total of three terms (maximum of six years) and may receive per diem compensation for their time and reimbursement of expenses such as childcare and transportation.
