Supervisor Rebecca Hermosillo begins her first term in January 2025, representing the First District of Sonoma County. She is the first Latina Supervisor to be elected to the Board. She has a background marked by resilience and dedication to public service. Born and raised in Sonoma Valley, she is the proud daughter of immigrants from Jalostotitlan, Jalisco, Mexico.
Her dedication to uplifting the community started in non-profit work with teens and
continued when she started her career with Congressman Mike Thompson. For
almost 12 years, her work spanned a wide-ranging of issues, from helping victims of
natural disasters, to helping constituents navigate the complexities of federal
agencies and advocating on their behalf. Supervisor Hermosillo has been active in
her community serving on several boards including Valley of the Moon Teen Center,
Speedway Children’s Charities, Goodwill Redwood Empire, Pepperwood Preserve’s
Youth Advisory Council, Sonoma County Sheriff’s Latino Advisory Council and Roseland Charter School’s foundation.
Her work as a supervisor will be driven by a commitment to access and equity while
working to address the country’s most pressing issues: climate change, housing,
homelessness, mental health, land use policies, aging infrastructure and supporting
our rich agricultural heritage and commitment to our environment.
