Carol Waxman has been with Petaluma Adult School since 1999, working her way up from ESL teacher to principal and now earning the statewide Adult Education Administrator of the Year Award.
Among the most important successes for Petaluma Adult School has been the development of multi-generation programs for English-learner families. AVANCE, funded by First 5 Sonoma County, targets families with children up to age 3.

These classes also provide a gateway to community resources, English as a Second Language and high school completion programs, CTE, community college transfer and community networking.
